AIM:
To provide participants with knowledge and skills necessary for safe manual handling.
OBJECTIVES:
:: By the end of the session the participants will be able to:
:: Outline legislation and employee responsibilities in relation to manual handling.
:: Discuss the biomechanics of the vertebral column.
:: Discuss the risk assessment process.
:: Explain the principles of safe handling.
:: Have an opportunity to practice procedures/ manoeuvres in relation to patient manual handling.
:: Have an opportunity to use mechanical and non - mechanical handling aids in relation to patient handling.

11.45 - 12.30 Principles of Manual Handling.

1.15 - 3.15 Patient Moving - Practical Workshop
Demonstration & practice of different manoeuvres.

3.30 - 4.30 Using a hoist Speaker/ demonstrator to be confirmed
